Another Girl Birthday Card and a Comparison

I decided to try to make a second girl birthday card in keeping with Susan Raihala’s challenge to make 2 different cards with the same stamp set.  She’s also the one who made a card with every stamp set she owns.  She’s my idol.  I would love to do this too….but I am more than a little imitated by the idea.  I’m happy just keeping up with the occasional card challenges.  But I think it’s the only way you know if it’s a stamp set that you want to keep.  See my previous blog to see my thought that purging should be my 2012 goal.

On a side note, I wanted to mention that if you haven’t read any of Susan Raihala’s 3 blogs I strongly urge you to.  She keeps it real, is incredibly supportive of fellow crafters, is so talented, and shares her journey raising a child with special needs.   I’ve been a fan of her cards for years, but what keeps me going back daily is the insight I get into a fellow crafter’s life.

So a few days ago I needed a girl birthday card for my niece and threw one together in short order so I could get the package mailed.  I had an extra card base done and decided to finish it up so I would have an extra card if I needed it later.  The one below is the one I made this morning and the 2nd one is the one I made a few days ago.  So I ended up with 2 different cards using the same stamp set.  They aren’t very different in style but I felt a little confined by the existing card base on the 2nd one.  I still haven’t decided which one I like better.  Do you like one better than the other?  The card details are below.

Hope you are having a great day!

  1. Thank you so much for the kind shout-out. And please don’t be intimidated by the idea of using every image stamp you own…it took me almost 2.5 years to finish, and if you don’t give yourself a time limit, it really is fun, a challenge not a chore!

Between your two cards, I honestly can’t pick a favorite. Both images are adorable and perfectly colored, and the placement of the banners works beautifully on both. I love the glitter, too…perfect for girly cards!!!
