More Hydrangeas

I have one more card using my Hero Arts hydrangea stamp. I used Copics on this one also and tried give some purple and blue variegation to the petals. I’m not sure that I’m all that fond of this stamp because it’s hard to color with the Copics. I’m a pretty new Copics so I’m still learning what type of images I like to color. I guess my conclusion is that I prefer more open space to get the color gradation to shine which is tough to do when the image is pretty detailed. So I like the PTI Year of Flowers images and Waltzingmouse images because of the open space to color.

The card is pretty simple since the main focus is the hydrangea. The thanks on the tag is the only sentiment and really plays second fiddle to the image. I used the linen plate on the card base because honestly…I think I’m addicted to it and no card lately has looked complete unless it has some texture. Card details are at the bottom of the post.

Playing with flock

I find flock a little tough to play with. 1) It gets all over everything worse than glitter. 2) I find it hard to get it to stick evenly to a stamped image using a glue pad. But I also have several jars of it from Martha Stewart so I need to make friends with it or give it away to someone who’s more capable than I am.

I picked up this great stamp from Paper Source that looks enough like poppies that I decided to make some fuzzy poppies. I’m sharing this not so great card so don’t hold it against me. I liked the color combo but I am really not liking the flocked poppies. As I’m writing this I am inclined to get rid of my flock today. I also distress the edges with weathered wood distress ink….it just looked to harsh without it. The poppy stems are hand drawn. Lastly I used the linen impression plate to give the card base some texture. Anyway…supplies are listed at the bottom of the post.

Happy Birthday To My Sweet Boy

Here is the card I made for my sweet boy. He turns 5 and I thought he would have fun with a big number card since he loves pointing out all the numbers and letters he sees while we are driving around town. I am also a big fan of My Mind’s Eye patterned papers and have more than I can ever use so if I come up with a way to use up some of it I am a very satisfied crafter.

The card shape is based on a blown up version of Papertrey Ink’s die cut #5. I loved the shape of this number set so it was my pick for this card. I used a die cut and then blew it up 260% to create my template, cut out the template and then cut out the card using the template. The resulting card is a little flimsy since there’s not a lot of paper to it. I ended up cutting out the sentiment from the patterned paper just to try to reinforce the card. But the sentiment from the patterned paper is exactly what I wanted to say so it worked perfectly. The card is fun and sparkly and blue….what more could a boy ask for from his crafty mom. Card to satisfy a few New Year’s resolutions

One of my resolutions this year was to use more of my unused cardstock, patterned paper, and stamps. So I decided to at least work on my cardstock and ribbon…Stampin Up’s sage shadow and narrow grosgrain ribbon. It’s a beautiful color! I really miss it….and I have lots of it! So now I need to use more of it. I made this birthday card for my aunt and hope to get it in the mail tomorrow. Another resolution checked….send my cards out instead of hoarding them. Waltzingmouse February Blog Party – strike that, Waltzingmouse Big Cheese submittal

I’ve been wanting to participate in Waltzingmouse Blog Parties forever but usually forget. Luckily I remembered and have time to make something up this morning and get it in…just in time. (Edited to add that I didn’t make it in time to submit it since the boys needed something to eat and that wins over crafting time.) The theme for this month’s Blog Party was Looking Forward To Spring. But since I didn’t get done in time I decided to submit it to the Waltzingmouse Gallery for the weekly Big Cheese contest.

I decided to go with Easter gift tags….that says spring to me. I don’t have a lot of Waltzingmouse stamps so I had to get creative on how to use them. I really wanted to focus on Waltzingmouse stamps so I ended up with this. I used gingham stamp for the background and then vintage labels 4 for the tag border.

Manly Card

It seems I never have a manly card when I need one. My hubby, brother and father would all wrinkle their nose at a card that has ribbons, glitter or jewels. So that takes out most of the cards I make. So typically I sit down and pull out my masculine sets and make up several cards. Sometimes they are like this one with no external sentiment. That way I can use it for Father’s Day or birthday.

I love this old stamp set from Stampin Up. I used the fly stamp to make up the background. Also…love this cardstock combo. One of my favorites!

Here’s another card for today’s PTI anniversary contest! This one is pretty clean and simple. Since I am trying to do several cards today and the first one I did took forever, I was ready for an easy one. I absolutely love the heart border die and you will likely see at least one more card from me using it today. And I cheated on this one and used glitter paper rather than applying the glitter to a die cut. Too much mess, especially after the mess I made with card 1. I am so happy that it’s Saturday so I have more time to play and make things for the PTI anniversary contest! I am hoping to get several cards up…but we’ll see if the hubby and kids will be okay with that. But at least I have 2 done, and I am showing you the first one. I love this one….it’s so sparkly and I love my glitter. I love the woven look in the background but it was a pain to keep the strips from shifting as I was weaving it together. I don’t have the PTI heart dies so the heart is punched. But the cardstock and the sentiment are PTI. All supplies are listed at the bottom of the post.
