Waltzingmouse Pajama Party!!

Hi everyone….

Waltzingmouse is having a fun party today…their Pajama Party.  I made 2 versions of the same card that I am putting adding to the Challenge 3 – In the Background blog hop.  Challenge 3 is to use any Waltzingmouse stamp to make a background.

I wanted to play with my distress inks so I ended up making a background using one of the smaller doilies from Dainty Doilies stamp set.  I colored all of the parts of the doilies and then misted it with pearl mist.  The colors really softened up and blended together.  I started with the background so I didn’t really know what I was going to do with it until after I saw how it blended.  I liked how the reds, purples, pinks and browns blended making me think of a fall themed card.  So ended up using my Teeny Trees stamp set for the main image.   I finished off the card with some silk ribbon and assembled it.  Of course I couldn’t decide if I needed to anchor my tree with a base and sentiment or just leave a sentiment along the bottom of the main panel frame.  You decide….I like both for different reasons.

March Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

This month’s Papertrey Blog Hop has a photo for inspiration.  It’s all yellows and aqua.  Usually I love this type of blog hop but I wasn’t feeling it on this one.  I was going to go with a birthday card but just couldn’t get the mojo going.  So I opted for ribbon and I have plenty of that.  So my card is yellow and aqua ribbon.  I used up my stash of ribbon rather than my good stuff just cause I have lots of the other stuff to use up.  Also I wasn’t thinking this was going to turn into one of my favorite cards and had a tough time using up my best ribbon, read Papertrey ribbon.  So forgive my lapse of not using PTI ribbon on a PTI blog hop…but I promise that means I’ll have lots more PTI ribbon to use on my best cards.

Another Papercraft Reject

The best thing about getting a rejection notice on my card submission is that I can turn around and keep my blog busy with new cards.  For the most recent Papercraft Magazine submission call I sent in 10 cards.  One got picked up but that leaves 9 cards that I will be posting on the blog.  I can’t do it all at once otherwise you might not hear from me for another month.  And since one of my 2012 goals is to post more frequently, preferably once a week, I need cards to blog about.

Okay…the card.  So this card was designed based on the sketch they provided that is shown below.  I love these colors together and wanted a summery birthday card.  I focused on Beautiful Blooms # 3 die images and made my card around that and the sketch.
