Papertrey’s SAF 2016 Farewell

I’m about done for the night and still have 8 more card challenges to work on tomorrow.  Yikes!  Papertrey’s SAF always challenges me to stretch myself and I appreciate it….maybe not in the moment when 1 card takes multiple attempts.  But I know that it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and see how you can make a new technique work for you.  It also helps to be crafting with wonderful friends.  I so appreciate my wonderful friend Victoria for coming down and joining me for SAF.  We always have a wonderful time!

Rather than take a photo of us at the end of a long day, I thought it would be better to show you what helped us get through the tough crafting day.  Besides great friendship, wine and humor.   Who says wine can’t be enjoyed from a regular glass?  Kids think it’s grape juice that way.

Thanks Papertrey Design Team for another fabulous Stamp-A-Faire!

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary Day 8 Challenge – Fortune Teller, Papertrey Create Along With Us Challenge

So my fortune teller told me to use Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Simply Chartreuse for my color combination for Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary Day 8 Challenge.  I am also including this card for the Create Along With Us for Papertrey’s typical Monday Challenge.  Got to love when you can make 1 card that works for two challenges.

I decided to use my favorite Papertrey designers card from the Spring Woods set.  Kay Miller is amazing!  Love what she does with colors and layout.  My card doesn’t do her justice but it was limited by the darn fortune teller colors. Supplies are listed below and I am including a link to Kay’s card here.

  • Cardstock:  Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey)
  • Ink: Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, and Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey); Chocolate Chip (Stampin Up)
  • Stamps:  Winter Woods (Papertrey)
  • Accessories: Fun Foam

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary – Day 10 Challenge

Today’s Papertrey 9th Anniversary Challenge is to create a card based on requirements based on the spelling of the first part of your name.  I opted for my last name because I liked the choices better.  I just don’t use a lot of kraft cardstock so ran away from using the letter K from the list.  My card needed to have heat embossing, add a border, and rounded corner.  I love playing with the technique of inking up an embossing folder and stamping with it on watercolor paper so that is how I made the background for the card.  I rounded the upper right corner, added a border around the watercolor paper panel, and embossed the sentiment on a strip of cardstock.  Supplies are listed below.  Happy crafting!

  • Cardstock:  (Papertrey) (Amuse Studio); watercolor
  • Ink: Versamark; distress inks
  • Stamps:  Year of Flowers: Roses (Papertrey)
  • Accessories: Bitty Button Stacks die (Papertrey); Tropic Bloom embossing folder (Anna Griffin); pool party embossing powder (Stampin Up) sequins, thread; Corner Chomper

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary Day 9 Challenge – Thank you for the warehouse staff

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary challenge for day 9 is to create a thank you card for the warehouse staff and send it to them.  I wanted something cheery.  They are working so hard and will be working even harder come tomorrow after all the crazy Papertrey fanatics put their orders in.  Hopefully it will make them feel appreciated.  Hope you are enjoying the Papertrey festivities.  Supplies are listed below.

  • Cardstock:  Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey); Orange Zest (Papertrey)
  • Ink: Onyx Black (Versafine); Orange Zest (Papertrey); Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey); Winter Wisteria (Papertrey)
  • Stamps: Script Sentiments (Papertrey); Sending You (Papertrey)
  • Accessories: Orange Washi tape (Recolllections)

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary Day 3 Challenge – Quick Card

Papertrey’s challenge for day 3 of their 9th Anniversary is to create a card in 5 minutes.  Ha!  I can’t do a quick card if my life depended on it and especially not in 5 minutes.  My quick cards typically run closer to 30 minutes.  I typically let them percolate over night and always seem to want to tweak things the next day.  So I absolutely failed at this challenge.  Because, true to form it ran closer to 20 minutes even though I was using pattern paper for the focus of the card and only had to stamp the sentiment.  But it seemed to lack interest or the wow factor so then I went back and outlined the pattern paper image in Copics (2 colors) and then decided the next morning that it wasn’t enough and had to add gold highlights to the center of the flowers to pick up the gold from the sentiment.  Hope you had better luck….I’ve discovered I can’t create to a stop watch.   Supplies are listed below.

  • Cardstock:  Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey)
  • Ink: Versamark
  • Stamps: Stylish Sentiments Birthday (Papertrey)
  • Accessories: Vintage Linens Pattern Paper (Papertrey); gold embossing powder (Ranger); Copics; stardust pen

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary – Day 5, Technique Sampler Challenge

I was out of town last week and am spending today catching up on Papertrey Anniversary Challenges that happen over the last week.  So here is my card for the Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary day 5 challenge – making a card using 1.5 inch squares that show off different techniques.  It was hard to make an appealing card when some of the techniques can look very different.  I can’t say I love this card but got all of my techniques in.

In order of techniques working from top left to right, embossing resist, embossing, coloring with markers, spritzing inked up stamp, regular stamping, coloring with Copics, second generation stamping, watercoloring; 2-step stamping.  Hope you are enjoying the Papertrey festivities and the beautiful work the design team is showing!

  • Cardstock:  Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey)
  • Ink: Smokey Shadow (Papertrey); Soft Stone (Papertrey); Archival black (Ranger); Onyx Black (Versafine); Versamark
  • Stamps:  Beautiful Brushstrokes (Papertrey)
  • Accessories:  Markers (Stampin Up); Copics; Mister (Ranger); clear embossing powder (Stampendous); black embossing powder (Stampendous)

Papertrey’s 9th Anniversary Challenges – Day 2

I’ve been busy today and got another card finished for today’s challenge.  Papertrey is celebrating their 9th anniversary with a series of challenges and I created a card for today’s challenge of using a piece of clothing for my inspiration.  I have a pretty summer blouse that has pretty pink and purple flowers on it.  It watercolored the flowers with twinkling H2O paints.   Love the shimmer that they provide.  I love the raised Graceful Greetings sentiment.  It has to be one of my favorite Papertrey sentiments.  Hope you’re enjoying the anniversary design team posts and challenges!  Supplies are listed below.

  • Cardstock:  Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey); Plum Pudding (Papertrey)
  • Ink:  Onyx Black (Versafine); Archival ink (Ranger)
  • Stamps:  Graceful Greetings (Papertrey); Sketched Blooms (Impress Rubber Stamps)
  • Accessories:  Graceful Greetings dies (Papertrey); Twinkling H2O watercolor paints;
