Simon Says Monday Challenge – Traditional Christmas and Wednesday Challenge – Let’s Sparkle and Ink to Paper – Intricate Cards

I decided to combine some challenges including Simon Says Monday Challenge – Let’s Sparkle and Wednesday Challenge – Traditional Christmas. My third card is also submitted for Ink To Paper’s The Joy of Card Making Intricate Cards Challenge.

I started by pulling out my stash of glitter paste and went to town making card fronts. Not all of them made it into a card for these challenges, but I like to get all the messy and time-consuming part of it done at one time. Glitter paste is a fun way to create a pretty sparkly background, especially for Christmas cards!

My first card is very simple, using a striped stencil to create lines across the card. I wanted a very clean looking ornament to match the simple style of the card. I also heat embossed the ornament strings in silver so it would match the heat embossed sentiment.
My second card uses a single line of pretty, glittery trees that is anchored with a sentiment border. Love the light green glitter paste against the green cardstock and the pop of red!
My third card is my favorite! Love the subtle greens in the card, the repeating tree background, the fun, and glittery deer die cut.

For my next two sparkly cards, I decided to use glitter die cuts. I have that cute deer die cut shown in my third card also in red so that was the inspiration for the last two cards. Love how the red glitter really pops when placed a pretty monochromatic background. I made the fourth card a bit more intricate so I could submit it for Ink to Paper’s Joy of Card Making Intricate Cards challenge.

My fourth card uses several layers and textures to create visual interest. Love how it turned out! The deer die cut is the same as the above card, only in red.
My fifth card uses the same tree die but keeps it simple with only adding the sentiment and birds.

Simon Says Stamptember Clearly Besotted Challenge and Ink To Paper Laurie’s Fabulous Favorites ChallengeThings

I combined two challenges for this card, Simon Says Stamptember Clearly Besotted Challenge and Ink To Paper’s Laurie’s Fabulous Favorites Challenge.  I CASEd Laurie Schmidlin’s poinsettia card shown here.  I wasn’t ready to dig into my Christmas stuff quite yet so decided to color one of the sheets from Papertrey’s Bold Blossom color sheets.  I colored the flowers with my Copics and added some Glossy Accents and Wink of Stella to the flowers for visual interest.  Clearly Besotted’s stamp set Fancy Sayings has the prettiest font and is one of my favorite font styles.  I stamped it on a banner to mimick Laurie’s sentiment tag.  Stamp supplies are listed below. Happy crafting!

Card Supplies:

  • Cardstock: White (Recollections); Limeade Ice (Papertrey)
  • Patterned Paper: Watercolor Wash Brights 6×6 pad (My Favorite Things); Bold Blossoms Coloring Sheets (Papertrey)
  • Stamps: Fancy Sayings (Clearly Besotted)
  • Ink: Onyx Black (Versafine)
  • Accessories: Copics; Clear Wink of Stella (Zig); Fun Foam (Darice);

Simon Says Monday Challenge – Happy Birthday, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge – Add A Die Cut, and Ink To Paper – Laurie’s Fabulous Favorites Challenge

I made three cards for the following challenges:  Simon Says Monday Challenge – Happy Birthday, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge – Add A Die Cut, and Ink To Paper’s Laurie’s Fabulous Favorites Challenge – Glitter and Shine.  The supplies for all of the cards are listed at the end.  Hope you were able to get some crafty time in this weekend too!

My first card has lots of sparkle from the glitter paste.  I don’t pull this stuff out and use it enough.   I’ve been wanting to make a card with a range of glitter paste.  It was fun to do it with the balloons.  Next time I will try to mix the paste a bit more so the bands of color aren’t so distinct.  Kept the sentiment pretty simple since the balloons are pretty busy.

I’ve been weeding through my older stamps and decided to play with an ancient wood stamp that had been sitting in my stash.  I heat embossed the floral image and then watercolored the flowers and leaves.  After it dried, I added a shiny birthday sentiment to it.  Love the colors but ended up not being so found of the flower stamp.  It’s heading for the bag of stamps to give away.

I had one more alcohol panel from my playing with alcohol inks from awhile ago.  I wanted to make a more male friendly birthday card with it since I never seem to make enough of those.  Love how the alcohol ink swirl and blend together!

I decided to use up another card front I had made from ages ago.  Stamping with paint is a messy business so I tend to make lots of card fronts at a time using different colors and stamps.  I go back through my stash of card fronts when I don’t want to start from scratch.  Unfortunately the colors in the photo look starker than they do in person.  The pinks match with the paint color pretty well.  I also colored the happy die cut with wink of Stella and then covered it with glossy accents to give it an glittered enamel look.
